I do many things but really they are all the one thing; I create. And from all the forms I create in, makeup is the one I love and do best. I have no formal makeup training, only a burning desire to succeed and the will power to do the things people tell me I can’t do… Which I always get done!
All, and I mean all my time is spent in the world of makeup, if not working I am playing around mixing textures and mediums, trying new shapes that feel uncomfortable to do, or putting all my earnings back into my kit.. Obsession would be an understatement.
My makeup style I would describe as ‘Romantic Punk’ meaning I love making the model look organically beautiful in his, or her own skin playing on their features. Or on the flip side becoming completely experimental and working against the natural flow of the contours of the facial features to make a graphic, undone or complete artwork to convey the mood or emotion of the image that has been described to me.
I entered the Make Up For Ever Pro Makeup Contest which was worldwide in 2014. The amazing prize was a week long body painting certificate workshop in their Paris Academy. When I entered this showing my skills in a video I was still hairdressing and I only had my business doing weddings and formals going for about a year. I sent off my submission and instantly rang the clients I had booked in for that week and cancelled them all. They all thought I was crazy.. But I won, and went to Paris.
The same thing happened last year when I decided to enter a model search for MAC Cosmetics. They were looking for 6 individuals world wide to feature in their 2015 MACnificent Me campaign.. So I got out my brushes and painted myself up. Out of about 100,000 people that entered, I was one of the winners. There in New York even though I was a model I spent all of that time in the studio taking in every single thing the makeup artist was doing, asking questions and taking notes and anything else I could to further myself.. And this is how I continue to live my life.
Mark my words, one day I will get that Vogue cover.. Or I will die trying, the point is that nothing apart from Vogue shutting down or mad cow disease is going to stop me from getting there!
Why should you employ my services? Because whatever it is that I was born with you can’t teach in a class. My talent is organic and I never enter into any space ready to create without a smile as I am truly happy being able to do what I love best.. Make people look beautiful.
